ArmenianHouse.org has a page on Armenian poetry: “Armenian Poetry and Armenian poets — works and biographies. Foreign poets about Armenia and Armenians.” Unfortunately, most of the poems are only in Russian and sometimes Armenian, but there is a link to a page of Armenian poetry in translation. (Thanks to P. Kerim Friedman for the link.)
Although it is about a painter, not a poet, I highly recommend the film Ararat, about the Armenian Genocide. Atom Egoyan’s short, “Calendar” deals with his Armenian past in a more oblique and poetic way as a couple (played by him and his wife) drifts apart while touring Armenian ruins in Turkey.
Hi
I have the full book of translation of Armenian poetry by Alice Stone Blackwell, just don’t have time to post it online.
Send me an e-mail if you want it, and I’ll e-mail it to you in a word file.
Regards,
