Navy Slang.

The Dictionary of Navy Slang is a pdf full of intriguing and amusing entries, e.g., “Anchors and Spurs: Famous dance club at NAVSTA San Diego where many-a lonely Navy wife has broken the seventh commandment. Many sailors find this amusing until it happens to them.” As Tim Steil put it in the MetaFilter post from which I have taken it, “67 pages of history and hilarity.” That’s U.S. slang; here‘s a U.K. equivalent, via Peter McDermott’s comment in the MeFi thread.
